This is my story
What has been my journey to get here? Life coaching didn’t exist as a career when I was a young girl, but I knew I wanted to help women believe in themselves somehow. I wanted to support women to connect with their inner brilliance and unique strengths and talents so they can set themselves up for success and happiness. And make their dreams come true.
And this is my story.
I have a vivid memory of sitting on my bedroom floor aged 12, reading Jackie magazine and cutting out the make-up tips and articles (‘Pinteresting’ pre-Pinterest if you like). I thought to myself, “this is what I want to do when I grow up; I want to make people feel good about themselves.”
Back then, I was thinking along the lines of beauty therapist, helping women feel more confident and beautiful – when I was younger I thought that if you looked good you’d feel good – obviously it didn’t take long to learn that true confidence and beauty are something entirely different and come from somewhere deep within our soul.
Anyway, it wasn’t long before I was persuaded to study more academic subjects…
Eventually, after studying for a BA Degree in French and Arabic, just over a decade in stockbroking and private client investments, and six years of marriage, I found myself at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital recuperating after having my second child. My aunt brought me a newspaper that was literally going to change my life. The headline read:
Can you change your life in just 30 Days?

It was an article about how Life Coaching can help anyone create massive changes in their lives.
I began researching the coaching world and even hired a coach from America myself – it was amazing to experience what a forward-thinking, solution-focused life could be like, supported by a life coach who could help me achieve my goals, keep me accountable and champion my cause.
I was hooked. My fire was lit. Becoming a life coach was all I could think of; helping people reach their full potential. Transforming lives. Yes, that is my destiny.
Little did I know then that I was going to have 7 more children…
But that’s another story. So, let’s …
Fast forward another 18 years. Now, with all nine children in education and beyond, I was about to begin my coach training with Animas. Heading out into the world for the first time – not as a mum, but as me – full of optimism and excitement that I was finally about to make my own personal dream come true.
Then reality hit
Like many women ‘returners’ to the world of (ahem – paid) work, during the coaching training weekends it dawned on me that I wasn’t as confident as I thought I was. Who did I think I was? I was shocked by the whirlwind of these unfamiliar thoughts and feelings; it seemed that everyone else had it together and I was just an imposter. Being so confronted by my ‘not good enough’ limiting beliefs, self-doubt and panic was overwhelming and uncomfortable to say the least.
Thankfully, I didn’t give up and I persevered. What’s more, I was in the best place, around the best people, and gaining the best skills possible to work through these issues in myself, as I simultaneously learned how to, also, help others.
I was so enthused and delighted by this ability I had discovered in myself to move forward with my dreams, whilst self-healing and supporting others do the same, that after I qualified I wanted to delve even deeper into the human mind and emotions.
By the end of my Animas Transformational Coaching Diploma course, I had come to realise that there is a lot more to achieving our ambitions than just dreaming a dream, coming up with a plan and executing it. There are all those other pesky matters which plague us; like fear, self-doubt, self-sabotage, perfectionism, procrastionation, difficult relationships, behaviours that frustrate us, lack of confidence, not feeling good enough, wounds and trauma from the past.
And all that stuff stops us from moving forward and keeps us stuck and unhappy.
As I wanted to understand and help my clients even more effectively, I went on to study, understand and master the deeper sub-conscious and emotional aspects of self-empowerment.
Over the next two years, I qualified in Person-Centred Integrative NLP and Hypnotherapy with Peggy Guglielmino at the Salus Academy and, rapidly followed that up by becoming an Advanced Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique and Matrix Re-imprinting Practitioner, with Karl Dawson at the EFTMRA.
And these superpowers in my toolbox not only enhance my skills as a coach and but they reach parts that ordinary coaching cannot reach.
